If you’ve been anywhere near the internet recently, these terms seem inescapable. Termed by many as brainrot humour, they can less cynically be referred to as under the umbrella of Gen Alpha slang. And it’s safe to say that most people are not fans.

The very term brainrot being used to describe such language should show you how highly it is regarded. Gen Alpha humour is thought of by most as being anywhere on the spectrum of being an absurd annoyance to an affront to the concept of language itself. Those who do entertain it often do so ironically, poking fun at younger generations’ seeming inability to grasp the formal language that they have caught onto so eloquently. The mere concept of something as bizarre as Skibidi Toilet is so random and outlandish that it’s almost fun to interact with if you put societal notions of it being cringeworthy aside.

Yet, the usage of Gen Alpha’s linguistic terms isn’t just limited to some unconventional corner of the internet. Slowly, yet surely, the language that we revile and ridicule is permeating into our day to day lives, to the point where it’s becoming more than just ironic- it’s becoming a part of the way we speak.

And to many, this is the source of unlimited horror. How can terms like mewing or sigma infiltrate the same, regular field of vocabulary that y’know… normal, smarter words are in? How can words invented by some Gen Alpha children encompass all spheres of the internet, be endorsed by dictionaries, and become a part of normal conversation?

The answer is that, well, it was bound to happen. This is really nothing new. Gen Alpha lingo is nothing but a new wave of slang entering the cultural zeitgeist. And to say that slang is a controversial point of discussion within the world of language would be an understatement. Gen Alpha’s new terminology pervading into modern vocabulary seems to just be another reiteration of a larger discussion related to the usage of slang.

So, is slang really something defensible, and not the insult to language many point towards it being? In other words, can you really justify Skibidi Toilet?

<picture></picture>

Gen Alpha slang enters the mainstream

The primary argument that arises when it comes to picking apart slang, especially in terms of Gen Z slang, is that is nonsensical. Many contend that slang does not have any real meaning, and what really is language without some overarching meaning or thought being conveyed by it, right? One can say that terms originating from bizarre videos which have no agreeable definition or idea behind them don’t hold the same linguistic weight as anything else that does carry some information or idea behind it.

However, the main purpose of such slang isn’t usually to exchange information, and is instead to create connection. Using slang words is usually to establish social links, leading to informality and an occasional laugh, taking the overwhelming need for seriousness out of conversation. There is the argument that slang also belongs to a particular group of knowers, and by using slang, one is able to identify others in the same groups and circles as them, who have similar experiences, allowing for greater comfort in interaction and solidarity. Slang usage can’t really be replicated by those who aren’t in the know and who aren’t part of its intended users. Why else do younger generations cringe when someone older ill-fittingly attempts to employ rizz and sigma into their vocabulary, without really understanding what they mean or that they’re usually used in an ironic context? And this feeling of exclusiveness, according to linguists like McArthur, creates a counter-culture, going against the norm, and creating a special circle that often rejects common linguistic conventions.

To add to this, historically, language change has been led by newer generations. Slang is often formed by those who are in ‘real’ social power, most commonly adolescents, and so rejects conventions of societal authority, alienating older groups and creating a sort of social leverage. Whichever generation holds the social power of being young influences the linguistic space to the point that the words they use do end up eventually entering the norms of conversation as they age. When millenials had this sort of power, words like FOMO and slay and BAE dominated the cultural space (however embarrassing they may seem now). This power has now been relegated to Gen Z, which is why a lot of our vernacular is currently popular. However, as time passes, our grasp over this power will slip and will trickle down to Gen Alpha, as can be shown by their slang slowly entering the mainstream.

These observations about the development of slang can vindicate Gen Alpha lingo in many ways. For one, it counteracts the argument that a lot of their phrases and references don’t really have any significance or meaning. If the purpose of slang is to create connection rather than definition, then anything that creates links between groups holds linguistic worth. Additionally, one can argue that older generations rejecting Gen Alpha slang is just another reiteration of the age old cycle of older groups unwilling to let the social power involved in language creation slip from their hands.

<picture></picture>

<g>

</g><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line>

Older generations trying - and mainly failing - to understand new slang

And, even though slang is mainly for the purpose of connection, and some slang does seem meaningless, there is some linguistic truth and value to everything we say. If we pause to examine each seemingly insignificant sentence or phrase we utter in our day to day lives, we’d find that their language runs deeper than we’d initially think.

The phrase Let Him Cook, for instance, signifies the creation of a surprisingly impressive result or action from an unusual process. Derived from the simple act of cooking, it unconsciously underscores the cultural importance of the universal constant of food, a manifestation of the building blocks of life itself. Other phrases like He Served or He Ate then further allude to the immutable value of food, portraying the association between food, merit, and satisfaction. Then, what difference do these phrases have to age old idioms like Piece of Cake or Forbidden Fruit or In a Nutshell? Each, in essence, correlates food to good, consumption to desire, and sustenance to satisfaction. They each showcase our global values as humans, through something as universal as food itself. To think that one merits study and the other does not simply because one is modern is frankly archaic, an insult to the development of language, and the very words we do deem as important.

Arguably, each sentence we string together is equally as linguistically significant as the language we study and revel in. And so, claiming some vocabulary is inherently ‘more valuable’ than others just because one rejects the means that they came from, defeats the purpose of language as a whole. Saying contemporary vocabulary doesn’t fit into the English language creates a vicious cycle of intellectual snobbery, stunting the growth of linguistic identity as a whole. Even though Skibidi Toilet frankly isn’t the pinnacle of humanity’s search for meaning, any string of words, as crude or unintellectual as they may seem, are a byproduct of years of linguistic evolution, cultural tuning, and human effort. To quote Gilbert Chesterton, All slang is metaphor, and all metaphor is poetry.

Banter is ballad, joke is wit, and the mere act of piecing words together is poetry. We just need to look at it through a different lens. Admittedly, having to analyse every one-off thing you say isn’t practical, or the point of language at all. But saying that modern lingo can’t compare to what we believe is ‘real language’ completely foregoes its true essence. As I’ve said, the reason for the existence of words are communication, connection, knowledge, and so anything that gets the job done is fair play under the linguistic umbrella.

At the end of the day, who really defines what language is? Zoomer humour and Gen Alpha Lingo, including even Skibidi Toilet, qualifies as a human truth as much as anything else. Don’t let socially upheld norms of linguistic refinement hold you back.

Say whatever you want man, its poetry.

Thanks for reading Time Warp! to come to a standstill. During important matches, everyone seems to be under the hypnotic trance of the TV, anxiously waiting for the next ball to be bowled, each possibly yielding the next wicket, or the next run, that could win your team the match. If you’re an avid viewer, your heart beats like your life's on the line, and the only way to save yourself is if your team has the skill - or the luck - to turn the tides of the match in their favour. In a stadium, this frenzied feeling is magnified even further. You see the brilliant game play out in front of your very eyes, engulfed by hordes of thousands of other fervent fans in jerseys of contrasting colours, and the field that looks so vast on TV is reduced to a small ground filled with players you idolise. You’ll do anything to get their attention, or better, get the attention of the cameras. In that moment, the swift movements of the bowler, and the ready stance of the batsman, is all that matters.

It’s hard to define India’s national identity without bringing up cricket in some way, shape, or form. Your parents and grandparents will tell you tales of India’s cricketing expertise, including those of Kapil Dev valiantly leading us to victory in 1983, Rahul Dravid’s resilience and overpowering strength in Test Matches, and Anil Kumble’s never-ending onslaught of wickets for the Indian team.

<picture><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!8OiB!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe63c45fa-1151-4a70-8abd-bd6fddfce519_750x500.jpeg" width="456" height="304" data-attrs="{"src":"https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/e63c45fa-1151-4a70-8abd-bd6fddfce519_750x500.jpeg","srcNoWatermark":null,"fullscreen":null,"imageSize":null,"height":500,"width":750,"resizeWidth":456,"bytes":null,"alt":"On this day in 1983: Kapil Dev's Team India won cricket World Cup at Lord's – Growing up, we’ve watched national heroes like Sachin and Dhoni emblazoned across the TV, their vigour and might continually on display for us to bask in. India’s won a world cup, lost some more, and we’ve seen IPL after IPL endlessly seize the media cycle once a year, every year. And the cricket craze in India hasn’t died down at all. In the modern era, cricket has permeated into every inch of media available in our country. Now, we go berserk over the minutest of Virushka updates, we regard Travis Head like some sort of war criminal, and we throw full fledged riots in the comments of the Indian team’s social media account, scrutinising every possible decision they make (I mean seriously, why is Sanju Samson in the playing 11 for the T20 World Cup?). Not to mention the fact that India-Pakistan is practically a more nationally significant event than Independence Day. The cricket news always seems to be the most enthralling part of the press cycle, the online sphere obsesses over cricketers and their glorious lives, and you can’t watch regular television without stumbling upon a cricketer acting in an advertisement at least once an ad break. The views are rolling in too, with about 300 million people having watched the Cricket World Cup final on Disney+ alone. Also on Disney+, 510 million people have watched the first 51 matches of this year’s IPL. The BCCI is one of the richest sport leagues in the world as well, earning more than the International Cricket Council itself.

But for me, and thousands of other fans, the adoration of cricket isn’t simply limited to the thrill of the sport, instead, cricket has become a way for us to connect with our own national identity. Supporting India sparks a sense of patriotism that’s incomparable, and each of our victories instils a unique sense of national pride and accomplishment. Seeing your heroes, your country, win anything from one-off series to World Cups is an electrifying experience. This is especially true due to the fact that, as aforementioned, many of us have grown up with cricket, and so our national identity feels somewhat interconnected with our childhood. In my experience, past cricket tournaments create a sense of nostalgia, and when these nostalgic emotions coalesce with the patriotism provided by cricket, it creates this unique feeling wherein you can’t really forego your culture and your identity as an Indian when you think about your upbringing.

Cricket is also one of the only aspects of Indian society that is usually a unifying force, at least on the national level (IPL teams, on the other hand, are a bloodbath of disagreement). Celebrating wins and commiserating losses with other fans creates such a potent sense of community and unity. The entirety of India who watched the 2011 World Cup Final can bond over that thrilling feeling wherein Dhoni’s sensational six won us the tournament, and everyone who watched the 2023 World Cup Final can relate to the sorrowful experience of realising that the championship wasn’t ours to be won. Huddling in front of the TV for matches with family and friends alike creates a special bonding moment that brings people together like nothing else. And the mere idea that millions of people across India are experiencing the same joy, grief, and anxiety as you are, at the same time as you, is such a fulfilling prospect.
<div Previously an often overshadowed demographic, the age of social media has resulted in teens almost being the focal point of the Internet. Your favourite singers, your favourite shows, your interests, they’re all on display before you, at the touch of a finger. And yet, this seemingly beneficial development has had its own negative implications.

‘Pre-teens’, or preadolescents, are usually classified as children around the ages of 8-13. In the past, this demographic had its own set of shows, magazines, shops, all relegated for them. You had Disney Channel, pop stars, clothing brands, and more, dedicated solely for children. This stage of preadolescence is supposed to be a period where children discover themselves, before they enter the teenage years. They get to take a small dip into the adult world: they can explore their passions, their identities, everything from their fashion sense to their music taste.

But now, this small dip into the adult world has been replaced by a full-fledged plunge. The pre-teen era has essentially become completely erased, with young children going straight from childhood to the teenage years and adulthood, with no buffer zone in between. Preadolescents are exposed to a world of sex, violence, and ideologies that their brains are not developed enough to handle.

The consequences? These preadolescents start trying to rapidly grow up, to emulate the adult themes they are surrounded with. Young children are extremely active on social media. Eleven year olds have MILF and DILF in their Instagram bios. Your favourite Wattpad fanfictions are being written by twelve year olds. Thirteen year olds are on a quest to become ‘sexually liberated’. This even leads to the rapid hyper-sexualisation of young teens, with them feeling pressured into acting a certain ‘mature’ way. Thus, this essentially kills off the ‘pre-teen’ era for good, forcing children to act mature and developed in a time where they haven’t even discovered their identities.

So, why does this happen? Why are these children growing up so quickly, imitating adults when they are far from it?

An obvious answer is, of course, social media. Pretty much the scapegoat for all issues facing adolescents, social media definitely has a detrimental impact on growing children. About 68% of pre-teens are on social media, even though most of them are not even allowed onto most social media platforms.

<picture></picture>

<g>

</g><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line>

Adolescent Social Media Usage Stats

Early access to social media firstly exposes children to mature content, including violence and suggestive and sexual themes and jokes. Young children, whose prefrontal cortexes are still developing, will be unable to weigh potential risks and truly understand the consequences of these ideas, and so will be more easily influenced by them. This means they will try to act like the people they see online. This, of course, is one of the major reasons why preadolescents are easily influenced by and susceptible to harmful ideologies and bigoted ideas. There’s a reason why the main demographic of the ‘Alpha Male’ podcasts and the Andrew Tates of the world are pre-teen and teenage boys.

A particularly harmful facet of this is the sexual ideas that these children are introduced to. Many are exposed to pornography, creating a warped view of intimacy and sex that’s bound to stick. Pornography isn’t necessarily visual either. Books with sexual themes are becoming increasingly popular in younger demographics, a direct result of an arising number of young children entering something as seemingly innocent as book-oriented spaces on social media. These young children are reading smut, many of which often romanticise abusive or toxic ideas, further creating improper ideals regarding love. For others, sexual topics are normalised at young ages, with many trying to seem sexually ‘attractive’, engaging in mature acts with others, or posting revealing pictures on the Internet without realising the repercussions. A common phrase used on the Internet is the saying ‘You’re not sexually liberated. You’re sixteen’. This succinct saying essentially encapsulates how adolescents, past the ‘pre-teen’ phase, are pressured into sex due to the themes they are introduced to early on as pre-teens.

<picture></picture>

A Recent Viral Tiktok

Now, while exploring sexuality and intimacy is normal, and is expected in the teenage years, such mentalities create unhealthy situations. Adolescents would be easily swayed by new trends, wanting to dress fashionably or learn to do their makeup a certain way. Some may also try to become influencers themselves, even at young ages. There’s even an entirely new spawn of young Gen Z and Gen Alpha influencers, who buy Shein and shop at Sephora and Ulta, many as young as six years old.

This feeds into the idea that you need to look a certain way to be considered ‘beautiful’ or ‘acceptable’, and that they should alter their appearance to seem appealing, when, in the first place, they ideally shouldn’t even have to consider seeming appealing at all. Such ideas creates harmful self and body image issues amongst adolescents. In fact, this age is when most people develop eating disorders, anxiety, and when most first begin self-harming, and self-loathing, a trend that has definitely grown as social media has become more prevalent in our day to day lives. These issues then further feed into the vicious cycle, further pressurising young children into acting mature, facing harsh struggles, and presenting themselves in a more ‘adult’ way.

And yet, the cycle doesn’t stop there. You can’t really speak about social media without bringing up the lurking monster that is peer pressure. If you’re an adolescent and everyone around you acts in a certain ‘mature’ way, of course you’d want to fit in. For growing children especially, fitting in and feeling accepted is extremely important, so even if you aren’t as chronically online as your peers, you’d be just as pressured into presenting like an adult as everyone else. This pattern repeats itself over and over again, until there’s a generation full of unhappy children trying to act in a way that they aren’t, yet judge and criticise anyone who doesn’t act in such a way.

Another thing that contributes towards self-image issues amongst children, that has greatly been amplified by the Internet, is popular ‘teen’ TV shows and movies.

<picture></picture>

Riverdale

On these so called ‘teen shows’, children see grown adults masquerading as their age, which opens its own can of worms. If you see people in their 30s, all of whom are conventionally attractive and mature, being said to be as old as you, then it makes you feel insecure, almost envious. There’s a reason why you won’t look like KJ Apa in Riverdale or Alexa Demie in Euphoria. They are grown people, and you are a child. Yet, these people still continue to be cast in shows as teenagers, even though they are nothing but, sparking unhappiness amongst pre-teens. This pushes them to act grown-up, pursuing a look that simply isn’t attainable to them.

These shows additionally end up, once again, introducing these pre-teens to adult themes, often glorifying things like sex and drugs. Let’s take a closer look at Euphoria, a show which had a media cycle that took social media by storm. Although the show’s themes of sex and relationships isn’t necessarily harmful, since as aforementioned, discovering these things is a very normal part of maturing, the way it handles them is far from it. The show’s glorification of sexual themes, drug usage, and addiction can be quite harmful for younger audiences, who do not really realise the negative implications of the characters’ actions. I’d particularly like to talk about a specific storyline involving one of the characters, Kat. Wishing to ‘free herself’ sexually, Kat decides to take on a job as an online dominatrix, even though she is a minor. Yet, instead of showing any real repercussions to these actions, they are very much glamorised and shown to be liberating and positive, an insanely improper thing to be putting forth for audiences.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" audience for such shows in the first place. So why do they watch them? And of course, as I’ve mentioned, it’s because of social media buzz. Unrestricted access to the Internet means a preadolescent would get hooked onto whatever’s in the eye of the general public. So if seemingly everyone on Instagram and Twitter is talking about some risqué, intriguing show, naturally, you’d want to watch it. It’d definitely draw in pre-teens more than something that is ‘age-appropriate’, which wouldn’t have the same shiny fascination about it.

This isn’t the only reason why pre-teens are drawn to more adult shows. A sad fact is that, well, no one’s really making shows for them. Think about it, when’s the last time you saw a show really geared towards that demographic? Age-appropriate enough for younger viewers, yet still tackling mature themes that wouldn’t be present in children’s programming. As more and more pre-teens become increasingly mature, the pull of shows made for them continues to decline. And so, such media becomes practically obsolete, not being as profitable as children’s or teen shows. After all, profit is the driving force behind everything brands do.

Television and movies aren’t the only place where this trend can be seen. Brands specifically targeted towards pre-teens continue to decline, with many even going bankrupt. It’s part of the reason why preadolescents often shop for accessories, clothes, makeup, at more adult locations now compared to, say, ten years ago. Even when you go to places like malls, there’s not really any place left for these kids anymore.

So, with this avalanche of factors contributing towards the so called ‘extinction of the pre-teen’ era, where do we go from here? The sad truth is, there’s not really any concrete answer. The Internet will continue to rapidly progress, the way it has been, and these issues will begin to become more and more prominent in pop culture and society. Solutions like limiting childrens’ Internet access and monitoring their activity have their own flaws, including being alienated and ostracised by their peers, and eventually being pushed into this facade of ‘maturity’ by them.

In the end, the only way we can go about the situation is by actually educating children, instead of leaving them in the dark. For years, explaining such issues to pre-teens, and even teens, has simply been avoided. And as has been established, there’s not a great way to prevent children from being exposed to these topics. Thus, if they get wrapped up into this vicious cycle of trying to act in a grown-up way, it could lead to a multitude of negative consequences, which they wouldn’t really know how to deal with. Here, I want to analyse different topics, as well as media, movies, and literature through a psychological lens. Time Warp is an amalgamation of my love for English, History, and Psychology, creating a space where I can truly express what I’m passionate about and interested in, whether that’s talking about my favourite books and examining its characters, or answering questions like Why is India just so obsessed with cricket?

The name ‘Time Warp’ comes from how I want to look at both old and new theories and media, in a way, mixing together different time periods. I also want to look at earlier topics through a modern lens, again somewhat ‘warping’ time.

The name for my blog is however, majorly inspired by one specific piece: Salvador Dali’s The Persistence of Memory. Not only do its melting clocks further contribute towards the phrase Time Warp (and well, have inspired my logo), but the work itself symbolises some key ideas that I want to explore through my blog.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" Dali’s bizarre paintings can easily be recognised worldwide. In his works, Dali uses several distinctive techniques, making him one of the most well known artists and pop culture icons of all time.

Surrealist art aims to challenge traditional ideas of reality, logic and thinking, which in the case of Dali, is only furthered by his mixture of the irrational and dreamlike in his works, blurring the lines between actuality and art. Surrealism should leave viewers confused, frantically trying to make connections between contrasting parts in a piece, which in reality, might have no connection altogether. The art style quashes beliefs of science, normality, and objectivity, instead focusing on the creative, the nonsensical, the otherworldly. And sometimes, such a combination can mean viewers are more compelled by these pieces as compared to a different art style, as it forces viewers to look beyond the obvious and create their own idea of what the art means.

This, consequently, results in many of Dali’s paintings having a wide variety of interpretations, creating more questions than they answer.
<div surrealist movement, The Persistence of Memory, is one of, if not the most, iconic surrealist paintings. Its melting clocks and stunning visual landscape not only portray Dali’s immense skill, but also provide sort of a launching pad for surrealist art and technique.

In fact, while making the piece, Dali deliberately put himself into semi-hypnotic states, in a method he coined the paranoic-critical method, to create art that wasn’t shackled by his conscious mind. This allowed his paintings, especially this one, to be raw and real, truly drawing from his inner subconscious.

First, let’s take a closer look at the piece. Its focal point is its melting clocks, draped on tree branches and other objects. A pocketwatch adorns the front of the painting as well. Below one of the clocks lies an amorphous mass, and behind this striking depiction is a somewhat mountainous terrain.

These complex and peculiar elements mean The Persistence of Memory, much like the rest of Dali’s paintings, is shrouded in an air of mystery, perplexing viewers, who are unable to understand its meaning. Is the structure in the centre of the painting a distorted creature? What do the melting clocks really represent? What does the landscape around the focus of the piece really mean? The piece is renowned in the worlds of art and pop culture worldwide, yet no one can come up with a concrete idea as to what it really represents.

Some argue that the melting clocks portray that time is fleeting, and that all that lives will soon die. Clocks, associated with the concept of time, usually hard, solid objects, are here reduced to liquefied, weakened masses. This not only shows that soon, everything will succumb to time, but also portrays that nothing is permanent, not even time itself. This is only added to by the decaying and dead objects the clocks are placed over, and the ants crawling over the clocks, furthering the imagery of ruin and decomposition. This puts forth the idea that concepts like time, created by humans, are not fixed and necessarily real: anything can be broken down and changed, and that any sense of order created by humanity will eventually crumble.

Additionally, the piece clearly draws inspiration from Dali’s inner workings as well as his surroundings. In fact, the cliffs in the painting have been identified as the coast of Dali’s hometown, Catalonia. So, some want to attribute some of the piece’s images to Dali himself. Therefore, many believe that the weird, unclear figure in the centre of the piece, covered by a melting clock, is Dali himself. Upon first glance, this seems odd, but when you really look into it, the figure does somewhat resemble Dali, having human characteristics like an eye, a nose, and even strands that bear a resemblance to Dali’s signature moustache. The figure also bears a resemblance to a painting of Dali’s created two years prior, The Great Masturbator, which many believe also uses Dali’s personal experiences as inspiration. This connection to Dali makes some believe that the piece is an introspection into his own subconscious, his inner workings and ideas.

<a entity in the piece could portray the impact the passage of time has on humanity and life as a whole, leaving living beings wrecked, dilapidated, dead, and decaying. It could also be used to contrast reality and imagination. Something as real as a human person portrayed with melting clocks and an outlandish scenery further adds to the mysterious nature of the painting, creating even more uncanny feelings and adding another layer of intrigue to the piece.

Yet, with all of these differing views on the painting, Dali remained unwilling to reveal his true intentions or ideas regarding the painting. Dali declined answering most questions regarding the different interpretations of his piece, only stating that the melting clocks were inspired by Camembert cheese melting in the sun, a quizzical and ultimately trivial revelation.

But the story still doesn’t end there. The puzzle of the painting was added to by a second painting by Dali, The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory, created in 1945, 14 years after the original piece.
<div linked, with the second using the basis of the first, adding on a body of water engulfing the painting, with a fish flowing in it, bullets flying through the painting, and the original tree branches But what stumps people is the question: How in the world are the two paintings connected? A myriad of theories arise, ranging from Dali being inspired by missiles, atomic power, and atomic bombs, with some even further trying to link the piece to his earlier work, The Great Masturbator.

However, Dali, once again, didn’t reveal a thing about the paintings, leaving the mystery sealed after his death in 1989, and plastering him and his paintings as a mainstay in pop culture for years to come. This made his works, especially The Persistence of Memory, enigmas that can’t quite be solved, only appreciated.

So, after this long explanation, back to the blog.

What I really wanted to say through this, other than exploring Dali’s works, (who was himself, a huge follower of psychological theory, especially Freud), is that any piece of media will have different interpretations. And that’s what I want to explore through this blog: how people develop different ideas about things, evolving different perspectives and belief systems, including my unique lens on certain topics.

I wanted to show that bits of life everywhere, including something as small as Salvador Dali paintings, show that anything that is created, or anything that even exists, really, will be seen in different ways. There is nothing definite, nothing set, about anything in life, and separate people will have different ideas about the same thing.

Nothing can truly have an answer.

But how we see things is what does.

Thanks for reading Time Warp!
